Rich Snippets Instructional Videos

Webmaster level: All

When users come to Google, they have a pretty good idea of what they’re looking for, but they need help deciding which result might have the information that best suits their needs. So, the challenge for Google is to make it very clear to our users what content exists on a page in both a useful and concise manner. That’s why we have rich snippets.

Essentially, rich snippets provide you with the ability to help Google highlight aspects of your page. Whether your site contains information about products, recipes, events or apps, a few simple additions to your markup can result in more engagement with your content -- and potentially more traffic to your site.

To help you get started or fine tune your rich snippets, we’ve put together a series of tutorial videos for webmasters of all experience levels. These videos provide guidance as you mark up your site so that Google is better able to understand your content. We can use that content to power the rich snippets we display for your pages. Check out the videos below to get started:

  2. Hi, I have tagged my site, both in english and spanish and rich snippets are not showing up in google searches. Also posted twice in the contact form Google provides about rich snippets interest. Finally, I've some trouble with the tool, because extra information is properly tagged as per schema.org directives and is marked as warnings in the tool. Would you mind giving me some help in the subject? I want support Google to give better search results. thanks, Gustavo

  3. I do not know for which one is the best method to apply; whether using META DESCRIPTION or whether using SCHEMA.ORG in improving snippets.

I used both methods for several months as for my self-experimental subject and I found several times seemed that Google Search still picked up the best one for Google's SERP

So, to my conclusion the best practice is to use content enrichment (quality content) for my articles (posts) and on composing all of it I've to imagine there is no search engine. Just think about what things my site visitors wanted to know the best.

Hope, my hard work prevails good outcome; for now and in future.

  6. Does it matter whether you use the markup on microformats.org or schema.org? Is there a preference for either within the SERPs? I've successfully implemented microformats on a number of sites but now the suggestion seems to be use the schema.org markup, but don't want to change my code unless I have to.

  7. As I commented on the YouTube video, I believe the syntax used in the breadcrumbs tutorial (both on YouTube and on the relevant schema.org page) is incorrect.

The itemprop URL and name for *each* breadcrumb should be declared, rather than the whole series of links and anchors. This is the syntax used by Google's microdata breadcrumb example (which uses the data-vocabulary.org vocabulary).

The two sets of instructions are not compatible.

  11. Any concerns with "faking" rich snippets - Have been seeing many SEO's dropping in data just to have them appear, thus increasing the possibility at improving CTR

  12. Hey Alejandro,

Please moderate all comments before making them live.

Other wise we always receive spam comments from spammers like "Best moncler sale online shop" and so on.

    Its frustrating.

    Hope you understand it.

    Thanks

  13. I’ve seen some tabulated rows in rich snippets. Looks like Google crawls valid code for this. More value to the end users. Thanks to Google.

  15. Using the rich snippet tool I am now getting an error

'Error: This page does not include verified publisher markup'

even though I am the verified publisher and have all the various publisher rel entries on my pages as well as an entry back from google+

A particular page in error http://www.graphicxtras.com/products/flower-Photoshop-shapes.htm

.. not really sure why this error is now being displayed, it wasn't there (I think) until today

  16. Hi,

is it true, that only the "website" url from a google+ ppage's info tab can be used to verify the publisher. In other words - I have to decide between www.example.com and blog.example.com but a page can't be verified as publisher for both? Linking www and blog to the same google+ page seems reasonable to me but as far as I see it's not possible. Or am I missing something?
