Webmaster level: All
Rich snippets help users determine more quickly if a particular web page has the information they're interested in. We've previously introduced rich snippets for shopping, recipes, reviews, video, and events, and most recently music.
Before you install a software application, users might want to check out what others think about it, and how much it costs. We are pleased to announce that starting today, you’ll be able to get this information right in search results.
Here's an example of what an application snippet looks like.

You can see application snippets from several marketplaces and review sites, including Android Market, Apple iTunes, and CNET. For information on how to add app markup on your site, please refer to our Webmaster central article and send any questions to our discussion help forum.

This is going to be fun. It's hard enough getting them to realise there's a difference between alt text and titles.

When are you going to support rich snippets for organizations?
This is really great news for me. I am working on eCommerce website and have 7K+ products on website.
I saw product reviews in Google search for many competitors and tried to make it happen.
I think, this is perfect post to make it happen.
When you are going have a snippet for logo. Like opengraph from Facebook?
There *kind of* is something to highlight certain organisations in results such as:

Seems a little strange, I've introduced for the first time rich snippets in one of my sites thinking this may make a difference, also I provided a mobile "m." version and multilingual. Everything with the corresponding sitemap. I've properly tested rich snippets with the provided tool, and, day by day, surprisingly, 2% of the pages are falling down from the Google index. http://goo.gl/WpKFJ Pls, may someone give me some guidelines?
Not sure if I'm just not caffeinated, but I can't find any implementation details. The post referenced the "Webmaster central article" but when I searched, there does not appear to be any specific info around implementation of Application Rich Snippet code. Can anyone point me to the related documentation?
Hi SP, please take a look at
http://goo.gl/zSxCo and to http://schema.org/
regards
Gus
Hey Gus,
Thanks for the suggestion.
I took at the code on the "Cut the Rope" app page and found the new schema "http://schema.org/MobileSoftwareApplication". Unfortunately, it looks like Schema.org have not added the new schema details to their site.
That said, I believe I've found the Google article that was reference in the post (below).

Hi Stefan, the post says "...Google also supports the following property extensions...". As I've read on another classes, you can add your own extensions not previously "schematized". I think Google did this special addition.
thanks
Gustavo
Sorry, I've omitted a real example in my first post http://goo.gl/OTaCq
cheers
Where's the webmaster central article referenced at the end of the post? Link anyone?
Yeah well could please start to actually implement the different rich snippets for everyone? Missing loads of different rich snippets in Sweden and guessing it will take us years to get these as well.
This is great for people whose apps are in a store, but what if your app is a web app?
Does this still apply?
When will this function be activated for European sites too?
Is this already activated in Germany?
I that possible to add rich snippets for an education site????
is it relevant mark with rich snippet a download page that offers a program but with a downloader application that adds toolbars and spammy things to your Pc?
Really I appreciate to the following changes for application user's but i would like to suggest individual Application search section for those online user's who are looking for applications.
Rapidly growing online application world will improve power of Google ultimately. No doubt Google already power full.
Is this the end of Meta descriptions?
This is really a great news for all Google user and site owner. Thank to Google for this.......
