Webmaster level: AllToday we’ve added a new notification to our search results that helps people know when a site may have been hacked. We’ve provided notices for malware for years, which also involve a separate warning page. Now we’re expanding the search results notifications to help people avoid sites that may have been compromised and altered by a third party, typically for spam. When a user visits a site, we want her to be confident the information on that site comes from the original publisher.
Here’s what the notification looks like:
Clicking the “This site may be compromised” link brings you to an article in our Help Center which explains more about the notice. Meanwhile, clicking the result itself brings you to the target website, as expected.
We use a variety of automated tools to detect common signs of a hacked site as quickly as possible. When we detect something suspicious, we’ll add the notification to our search results. We’ll also do our best to contact the site’s webmaster via their Webmaster Tools account and any contact email addresses we can find on the webpage. We hope webmasters will also appreciate these notices, because it will help you more quickly discover when someone may be abusing your site so you can correct the problem.
Of course, we also understand that webmasters may be concerned that these notices are impacting their traffic from search. Rest assured, once the problem has been fixed, the warning label will be automatically removed from our search results, usually in a matter of days. You can also request a review of your site to accelerate removal of the notice.
If you see this notification appearing on your site’s listing, please take a look at the instructions in our Help Center to learn how you can begin to address the problem. Together, we can make the web a safer place.

You couldn't have released this two weeks ago? My site was just hacked and stuffed full of keywords. I don't even know how long it was like that.
That's on you friend. Whether Google provides this service or not, its your responsibility to have a secure site. While Google offers this service this does not mean you can now be a lazy webmaster. I'm sorry your site got hacked. Please try your best to keep your house in order.
That's huge. The web will benefit greatly from this.
I had one of my sites hacked as well but noticed it about 4 hours after it had been done. So, my developers cleaned it up and the site is up and running again. It's a site that is built on Wordpress so therefore it has plugins accordingly. Could there possibly be code that was hacked into the plugins that would cause Google to hit me a negative 50 penalty?
cool feature, I also think google should add an option to remove websites duplicating content from search.
Websites duplicating the content of stackoverflow or usenet just to printout some ads are anoying.
That would be a smart move even if it's not good for adwords.
Is there a way to get notitifed other than by looking for my sites in search results? For example, via google analytics or webmaster tools? If not, that would be very cool.
Yoland: They said in the post that they will contact you via webmaster tools.
Thanks. I was trying to do too many things at once and missed that.
Seriously good idea - kudos Google!
Could you highlight the link in a reddish color to make it stand out more?
cool.... is this a real screenshot of mattcutts.com?
its nice and useful feature
yeah, nice info
Good helps provided by Google completely with the instructions given for how to resolve this problem. I visited just now, "Suspicious results and strange behavior". Thank you, Google.
well the message isn't showing....i googled gawker and mattcutts but nothing seems to work...anw i live in Lebanon...is it related to my location?
I'm curious to know what are the criteria for determinig if a site has been hacked? What if it hasn't? How does it get rectified?
"well the message isn't showing....i googled gawker and mattcutts but nothing seems to work...anw i live in Lebanon...is it related to my location?"
if you searched for the site they gave as an example, it's just an example. it's not really hacked. i tried it too it's running normally.
ஞானபழம் கூகிள் ... பிரமாதம்.
This is very essential because people going to a site should know whether the target site contains any malicious scripts. Hail Google.
Is this going to be part of the Safe Browsing alerts for AS operators? Would be extremely useful.
its not fair :/

absolutely brilliant idea, this was absolutely needed, will avoid "accidents" with drive by threats on legit sites, and will also avoid a waste of time in site verification with misc tools.
Its Awsome but you should also tell us how can we get it Back ?

Please do update blackle's function. Its been years since anything had been changed on blackle and that's very disappointing..
So nothing is impossible.
Really great thing, now its possible to have a save site.
Thanks for sharing
you rocks
Thanks
Great feature from google..
Its tremendous, Thanks Google for providing such type of feature to see the hacked site with listing.
Don't count on the accuracy of this service - I am still finding many hacked, very popular sites that Google search results have no clue about - even 48 hours into the hack.
What's worse than no warning at all? A false sense of security...
Don't believe the hype - Google search results are still, and will apparently be for some time - the number one way to infect your computer.
Thanks Google to make us more secure on internet.
Yes hacking is a big problem. I thought that the internet would have figured out how to prevent it by now.
How about red color warning?
Nice share
thanks for this information
