You may remember getting to see what Googlebot looks like in our “First date with Googlebot” post. In this version of the SEO Starter Guide, Googlebot is back to provide you with some more SEO tips.

I read the first edition about 18 months ago when we got serious about inbound marketing for our Virtual Time Clock employee time clock software. After endless reading it's still one of my best reads on the topic. I appreciate all Google does to partner with small businesses. It's been invaluable as we market our time and attendance program program on the web!

There's this thing called HTML - it allows you to add cross links and references and no end of interactivity. You could even put this stuff together in a "web site", perhaps tweaking it regularly, rather than a major update every few years. Just a thought ;o)
What's the deal with the yellow lines through important terms?

In my pdf reader, many words have solid yellow blocks of color over them, making it basically unreadable. Bah.
but where is other languages support？

As Chinese search engine Baidu published their first ever official SEO guide to webmasters last month, Google followed up with an update to their SEO guide.
Are they any variations from Google that needs to be considered for sites with multiple languages? i.e. Korean, Chinese?
This company http://www.googlelocalranking.org is spamming people about doing local seo for them and with Google in the domain name, it certainly gives the impression that they are related to Google in some way.
Is this company associated with Google?
I have a number of clients that could take a look at that.
I am also getting yellow blocks covering key words, thus making this unreadable. Please update.

thanks for update! honestly, seo starter guide is excellent Guide and not only for beginners! It is the way Google looks at websites and to which webmaster can confirm when they want their website to be found by Google.

I made a forum SEO plugin based on this guide two years ago, so it's nice to see it updated.
The formatting really irks me, though. The old one was much easier to read without the finnicky formatting and GoogleBot-Clippy.
A panicked GoogleBot asking "Is your site doing OK?" is the kind of FUD I'd expect from a shady SEO company, not from an official Google resource.
I have learnt a lot of the new. Thanks.
It will help many newbies to make their website interaction get better with users as well as search engines :)
