Since the launch of Sitemaps, webmasters have been asking if they could submit their Sitemaps for multiple hosts on a single dedicated host. A fair question -- and now you can!Why would someone want to do this? Let's say that you own www.example.com and mysite.google.com and you have Sitemaps for both hosts, e.g. sitemap-example.xml and sitemap-mysite.xml. Until today, you would have to store each Sitemap on its respective host. If you tried to place sitemap-mysite.xml on www.example.com, you would get an error because, for security reasons, a Sitemap on www.example.com can only contains URLs from www.example.com. So how do we solve this? Well, if you can "prove" that you own or control both of these hosts, then either one can host a Sitemap containing URLs for the other. Just follow the normal verification process in Google Webmaster Tools and any verified site in your account will be able to host Sitemaps for any other verified site in the same account.
Here is an example showing both sites verified:

And now, from a single host, you can submit Sitemaps for both sites without any errors. sitemap-example.xml contains URLs from www.example.com and sitemap-mysite.xml contains URLs from mysite.google.com but both now reside on www.example.com:We've also added more information on handling cross-submits in our Webmaster Help Center.
For those of you wondering how this affects the other search engines that support the Sitemap Protocol, rest assured that we're talking to them about how to make cross-submissions work seamlessly across all of them. Until then, this specific solution will work only for users of Google Webmaster Tools.

thats a brill ideas, save us more the time.
anyway, is there a file size limit for sitemaps. Anything specific.
thanks
Yeah, I'd also like to know the file size limit.
While this is very good, it does not help Blogspot bloggers using FeedBurner. We cannot 'prove' we control feedburner.com (of course) so our sitemaps are still full of errors if we redirect our subscribers to FeedBurner.
No fair!

Great feature. I was looking for this many times ago for one of my web site, Grafikamente.
Hi
most of my websites are showing verification error . all these sites have had passed verification and was running fine since past 11 months or so. I further noticed it says Last attempt Oct 26, 2007: We were unable to verify your file due to a server timeout.
The sitemap files are pretty small so i don't understand how it could come across a server timeout . any advice ?
Hi
Our website is showing a verification error. It includes a Google provided meta-tag. The site had passed verification and was running fine since past 11 months or so. What's up with that? Does the verification expire??
arindra, tim: These are great questions to post in our Webmaster Help Group; if you post your URL and your question there someone can help you dig into it further and figure out what's going on.

Hello,
This post have been in the google webmaster tools discussion group without results for many days, so i post here.
i have on my webmaster tools account the site http://find-on.it and also some other sites like something.find-on.it
All sites are correctly verified.
I submitted on the main site (http://find-on.it) a sitemap with the urls of all these websites, but i receive an error on some sites.
Example: why this sitemap url is accepted:
http://advertising.find-on.it
and this not?
http://affiliate.find-on.it
Both are verified in my account, both are correctly working, all
settings are the same.
I tried also to insert the main site as http://www.find-on.it and
submit the sitemap on it, but no changes
Is the cross-site sitemap submission not working correctly???
Thanks
Marco
